Here’s my newest harvest of books to sweeten your ever growing yield for an autumn reading list. You’ll discover books for all age groups & a plethora of genres to meet everyone’s special interests.
As always, I’ve included new books from several of my revered authors: Oliver Potzsch, Jo Nesbo, Doris Kearns Goodwin, Bill Bryson, Jamie Ford, Anna Dewdney, & Karen Beaumont.
Take special note of the Middle Grade fiction book, Wonder by R.J. Palacio, I’ve singled out. This fall at my school, Wonder, is being read individually by all of our 7th graders and our 5th, 6th, & 8th grade teachers are using it as a read aloud. Many book aficionados are calling this a modern day classic, a must school wide reading book, and a story that is not limited to only middle grade students. As adults we all can empathize with the angst of growing up in middle school & you’ll soon discover a bond with Auggie Pullman.
“I wish every day could be Halloween. We could all wear masks all the time. Then we could walk around and get to know each other before we got to see what we looked like under the masks.” (Wonder, Palacio)
I now have two very special & critical new book reviewers, pictured above, my 2-year-old grandsons, Bryce & Kashton! They’ve helped to choose a few of their favorite read-aloud books to share with you! A superb read-aloud book for them qualifies ONLY if it can be read over & over again — continuously if I might add, in one sitting!
Happy Reading!
