What’s your favorite quote or saying about reading?

Here’s mine:

“I declare after all there is no enjoyment like reading! How much sooner one tires of any thing than of a book! — When I have a house of my own, I shall be miserable if I have not an excellent library.”
Jane Austen (Pride and Prejudice)

  1. Jackie

Among others, “Wait and hope.” Dumas

  2. I can’t pick a “favorite” one because I have a habit of writing down phrases I love in books. This is one I liked from The Thirteenth Tale:

“A birth is not really a beginning. Our lives at the start are really not our own, but only a continuation of someone else’s story.” – Diane Setterfield

Thanks for sharing your favorite quote from, The Thirteenth Tale! It was one of my favorite books. I like the quote you selected since the main character was having her life chronicled. Very appropriate choice!
Our book club discussed The Thirteenth Tale several months ago and we all enjoyed it!
